Let’s be honest, if you live in the DC/MD area, you are probably thinking about snowfall. These 90 degree days are begging for some relief. So what’s better than a little Christmas in July (It is the 25th after all!)

My heart is exploding with excitement today. This day has been a long time coming…and I mean…a long time. A year ago, I realized that my vision for my business, my heart and my website were not all matching up. Thankfully, I had some friends to help me get that in line. Friends who encouraged…who listened…and who were oh so patient…with the changes…changes…and more changes.
But here we are…finally.
Brittany DeFrehn Photography is my new little world and it feels like home. I invite you in and on the adventures ahead. I am excited to share new stories of joy-filled brides, gorgeous women and momma’s who do it all. I want my photography and this little venture to inspire and empower so take a look around and see all the new things…we are only getting started.
I am a firm believer in that God puts people in your life for a reason. During the past year that has never been more clear. I am so lucky to have a group of girlfriends who lift me up, pray for me and cheer me on. Not only do they care about me, but they hold me accountable personally and professionally. On top of that…they are pretty dang talented.
Among us we have two photographers (myself and Blissful Muse Photography), a make-up artist (Primrose and Co), a graphic designer (KD Creative) and a caterer (Uphaya Pie Company). I can’t look at how we have all come together in the past year and not say that God had a hand in it. When we get together for Bible study each week, I am always reminded how I am blessed beyond measure to have them in my life.
If you haven’t guessed already, the beautiful heart above, Katie Durski of KD Creative is one of those awesome girls. Today she launched her new site and brand and I am so extremely proud of her. This year has truly been a journey and I think her soul-searching and extremely hard work has paid off. She is proof of what motivation, a lot of hard-work and a heart for God can accomplish.
So today…check out someone who inspires me and read about her journey this year.
Nothing like starting off a Monday than with Holiday Minis! I am so excited to see so many familiar faces in the coming weeks.
Be sure to mark your calendar for October 28th at Boher Park in Gaithersburg, Maryland and November 3rd at Fletcher’s Boathouse in Washington, DC. Nicolle from Libby Lane Press will be joining me again to create custom holiday cards for each family.
Spaces are limited and payments are due in full at the time of booking. Email me to reserve your slot.
Help. I think to me it’s a four letter word. I hate asking for it. (Just ask my husband.) So earlier this year, when my sweet Nikki first offered to “help” me with shoots, I didn’t really know what to do with myself.
This week has been extremely busy. Shoots…powering through editing…burning discs…and most importantly…being mom. Sweet Nikki is doing the same. And I realize…I miss her…terribly. And I really did appreciate having that thing called “help” around.
I feel super blessed to be just a few months into being “full-time” photog and to need assistance. I probably needed it long before, but I am ok with it now:)
So…over the next few weeks, I will be looking for an intern.
Here are the deets.
Monday evenings and weekends are preferable, but the schedule can be flexible.
You should anticipate hands on experience with both the actual shooting and business side of photography.
You should expect to commit for at least 3 months.
Because of the nature of a large portion of my shoots… maternity and boudoir…you should probably be female. (So sorry guys!!)
You should be flexible and fun:) Emphasis on fun…and probably like cupcakes.
Oh…and you should like adventure… like canoeing at 8 months pregnant with a camera adventure.
If you think you might know someone who would be a good fit…send them my way! They can email me at email@example.com
Happy Weekend everyone!
And make sure to check back Monday for more of Jill and Steve’s shoot!
PS- If you don’t think think you can commit because of job, family etc., but you are super interested in photography…email me about my mentoring sessions! I would love to hear from you!
Sun and sand have everyone in the mood for summer so I am especially excited to announce this year’s summer minis.

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend! For us, it was a great weekend full of good friends, great food and soaking up lots of the super warm weather.
Speaking of warm weather… I saw that they have revised the Cherry Blossom bloom forecast for this coming weekend! I can’t believe it…spring has certainly sprung early!
Since I was already booked on the original peak bloom date, I had passed on Cherry Blossom Minis this year. I was a little sad because this is the 100th anniversary of the Cherry Blossom season and it has to be one of the best, and my personal favorite, photo opportunities in the DC area! However, as luck and warm weather would have it, the peak bloom happens to be during a free weekend. So let’s celebrate!
I will be doing Cherry Blossom mini sessions this Saturday March 24th. Sessions are 20 minutes long and designed to get great updated portraits of you and your family during this iconic DC event.
Spaces are limited. Email me at email@example.com for additional information or to book your time.
Meet Nikki… one of the sweetest girls you will ever know. She is kind…stunning…fun…and oh… my new assistant for SweetBee Photography! She is wonderful and my clients are going to be lucky to know her. Nikki is an up and coming photographer and we recently took advantage of the woooonderful warm golden hour and did a mini shoot for her and her sweet sweet mom who I might just adopt. Don’t think those hands on the belly are not purposeful… they are… Nikki and her husband are welcoming their new addition in July. Our mini shoot also took the form of a gender reveal.
I can’t wait to share with you this heart warming session.
In other news this week, I am very thankful for wonderfully honest friends. People who know you…aren’t afraid to be honest with you and make you better people. In the next few weeks you might notice some changes around here. Thank you to those friends who believe in me, encourage me and push me to be the best I can for myself, my family and for my clients. I appreciate you more than you know.
