“Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.” ~ Plato
Lindsay embodies style and grace and for this simple maternity session she especially shined. Her and her high school sweetheart were expecting their first daughter and we captured some of that grace and beauty to share for when she is older. Congratulations Lindsay.
You are beautiful and I can’t wait to see your family grow!
I really love photographing growing families. Especially when they are calling me to photograph number two. You might remember this sweet family from before. Gorgeous Tanya and sweet little Joshua and of course Daddy too. I joined them in their new house in Georgetown for a maternity session before #2′s arrival. Congratulations Tanya and family.
I said jump in…and they did. But since this shoot, they have jumped in on their own to a whole new world of fun…parenthood. Their sweet baby arrived early (as you probably saw from this post on Father’s Day), but this session was too fun not to share. I’ll be sure to share Nikki’s individual maternity photo session on Monday. Until then…beat the heat this weekend!
Walking into homes with new babies every week…you get to see the start of new life… both the baby’s and the new momma’s. It’s amazing how one second it can just be you…and then suddenly…you have this little life that depends on you…for every…little…thing.
It would be a lie to say it comes naturally for every momma, but for this one it did.
Congratulations are your new little love and welcome to the most important role of your life:)
If it’s not evident already… Rachel knows how to work the camera. Photographers often make the best models because they have a greater understanding of what looks good “in camera”. (Note: I do not claim to be someone who can do this…at all..I like being behind the camera:)
These images were taken about 7am right at Constitution and 18th street. If you know DC…you know that it is the start of rush hour so we had to act quickly. When I would say something to Rachel on her posing…she knew exactly what I was looking for. She trusted my vision and went for it. The resulting images did not disappoint. She looks beautiful…powerful and strong…everything that she undoubtedly is.
Thank you Rachel for trusting my vision for this shoot and for allowing me into this time in your life.
Rachel is a photographer and a super talented salsa dancer. She is passionate…creative…and in love.
Her and Louie currently live in San Diego, CA so I was super honored when she called me a few months ago to plan out a session here in DC. It made it even better when I found out she was EXPECTING. I am always so honored when fellow photographers ask me to capture images for them and give me the freedom to be creative…especially during SUCH an important time in their lives.
This session was taken in the wee hours of the morning in DC. Unfortunately, the crystal clear forecast was not so crystal clear, but the empty monuments were the intimate setting we were looking for.
I loved how they were so natural just loving on each other. But what I really loved most was their openness and their genuine joy.
Make sure to stay tuned for second post of these amazing people tomorrow.
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’.
They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
So excited for this momma and all the happiness in her life.
