Just a peek of this sweet couple.
More of them on the blog next week.
Just a peek of this sweet couple.
More of them on the blog next week.
Because we couldn’t get enough of them yesterday…
Congrats you two!
We woke before the sun for this session. The frost on the ground, plus the morning light, plus this gorgeous tree that despite being late fall and Sandy, still had its leaves…made the early wake-up call worth it.
Meagan and Alex together is really what topped off the morning though. If you are around Meagan for even a second, you know she laughs easily, which in turn makes everyone else laugh… especially Alex. And when that happens Alex’s eyes disappear when he smiles.
This is just part one of their session. Too much fun not to share part two tomorrow.
Until then…enjoy this “winter” day.
Yes…Meet Brittany. The world doesn’t neccessarily need more people named Brittany…man are there a lot of us…but it definitely needs more people like this girl.
Brittany is a lawyer in Florida. Apart from being a super awesome lawyer, Brittany LOVES her house, creativity and writing.
When we met at MTH she was grappling with putting herself out there more and to taking a step out of the world of law and into something inspiring.
Just a week ago, she sent a few of us a little link to something she had been working on. By little…I actually mean something big…and rather fancy. Brittany lives in a 85 year old house and has been re-doing it with her husband. (Hmmm…this sounds familiar…can you see why I love this girl) and she has started chronicling her adventures, as well as the little things in life that MATTER through her blog “Busy Being Fancy”.
This is how she explains the name..
“Fortunately, I have a husband that lets me be…crazy. He is the fanciest thing I have and my most favorite person in the world. In fact, he came up with the name of this blog. It’s a little saying we have in our household for those times you are doing something for the sheer enjoyment of it… Just something you do for fun because it is wonderful. For him, that might be programing something on his own instead of buying software or burning the midnight oil to play a video game. But for me, it has always been spending a little too much time icing those cupcakes or refurbishing an old goodwill dresser. We are “busy being fancy” every chance we get because that means we are doing something we love and enjoy. It is a way of life for us – the little luxuries that we allow because we work our bums off the rest of the day.”
Since we met a month ago, we have been skyping, emailing and scheming on new steps in our lives for the both of us. I swear, every time I talk with this girl, my heart just smiles. I am so inspired by her fearlessness, honesty and kind heart. More importantly, I just can’t get enough of how she makes those little things count.
So on this Monday…check out Brittany’s blog and get busy enjoying those little things… or as Brittany says “Get busy being fancy”.
If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride – and never quit, you’ll be a winner.
The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.
I have been toying around in my head for some time about Monday posts. Many bloggers have consistent catchy names and before now I had never jumped on that trend. However…after Making Things Happen I realized I really wanted to make my blog be something people could look forward to reading…and not only just gorgeous photos. I wanted to include stories about people that motivate me.
I knew some of the amazing people I met at MTH would be perfect at this. So before I left Atlanta, a few girls and I got up early to get dolled up and to document the excitement and motivation of the things we had just experienced. It is my hope that their stories over the next few weeks will motivate you and that their images will remind them of just how they felt when they knew with every inch of their soul it was possible to make things happen.
So without further ado…meet Maddie.
Maddie is from Mt. Pleasant South Carolina. She was one of the first girls I met at Making Things Happen. We were part of the “early crowd”. We all met in the hotel lobby the evening before with about 5 other girls and nervously introduced ourselves to one another. The minute Maddie sat down I knew I wanted to be her friend. I mean if her sweet Southern accent didn’t get you…her warm heart, big laugh and easy going style just sucked you right in. On-top of that…this girls heart is about 800 miles wide.
What inspires me about Maddie is that she is a doer. This was apparent to me the minute she told me she was at MTH because she had made some major career decisions to figure out what was important in her life. By the end of MTH she had made the decision to pursue her love of music. We spent the final morning before we were to go home capturing that excitement and clarity for her and I could just feel that big things were about to happen for this girl.
Since she has been home she has actually started taking steps…to make this happen…even despite having tonsil surgery… she is working to make music a priority. I am so so proud of her.
Maddie’s heart and resolve inspire me to keep going after it.
By the end of our Atlanta trip, Maddie and I were walking arm and arm like old best friends and she was shuffling me to the airport while we both held back tears.
I am so excited to see what is next for this girl and I hope she motivates you to take big steps today. Thanks Maddie for sharing your heart and for being such an amazing friend.
So much love.
Happy Monday everyone.
I guess it is officially fall. How did September sneak away so fast? And somehow between Friday and today, the temperature has decided jeans and boots are in order? Though I hear this change might be temporary, with it being October I am going to welcome the start of the season…pumpkin-lattes now welcome.
The past few weekends have been jam-packed with gorgeous weddings…and the weather has been amazing. Gone are those sticky humid days of summer where I feel bad for brides and even worse for the groom.
I thought I would share a little peek of Linda’s wedding. She kicked off the fall season right with her gorgeous purple and yellow combination. Looking forward to sharing more of her nuptials and all of the other fun things I have been up to in the coming weeks. I think it’s almost mini time…
I am still flying high from the all of the fun of this weekend. I am also sitting with my feet propped up…the quintessential symptom that you are suffering a super amazing photography hangover.
This weekend was packed full of engagement sessions, mini shoots, gorgeous women, lots of make-up and beautiful things. Of course Nicolle from Libby Lane Press was in on the fun.
If you are interested in getting the inside scoop on all the new things we are up to designed specifically for women and girls…please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Happy Monday everyone!
PS- A special thanks to Jackie of Primrose & Co. for Nicolle’s make-up and styling xoxo
There are so many things I love about these shoots. People like to call it boudoir, but in the words of Sue Bryce “I don’t take pictures of bums”. It’s not glamour photography (insert 80’s 90’s mall studios)…it’s just pretty.
Some people do them for their husbands and some people do them just because. Regardless, everyone walks away feeling pampered and empowered.
I worked with Primrose & Co on make-up and styling for this shoot. Thanks to Katie for letting me show-off a little bit of the fun we had.
You rocked it girl.
Styling: Primrose & Co.
I am working on some super fun new things right now. So I thought I would share a little peek for those who might not have seen it over the weekend on my Facebook page.
I am so excited for the fall season ahead.
Happy Labor Day everyone…enjoy that Pumpkin Latte you have been waiting for!
Seriously…there are no other words to describe Lauren. Just a little peek at her and Rick’s engagement session.
More next week…until then enjoy your weekend!!
